Palms sweaty…

If you’re currently planning a wedding, it’s more than likely that you may be in a few upcoming as well.  Maybe you’re even the Maid of Honor or your fiance is the Best Man, regardless there may be a moment where you are asked to speak.  This can be a VERY daunting and frightening task if you are not comfortable speaking in front of people.  Here are some quick tips to hopefully help you get through this.

1.  Keep it short.  Write out what you want to say if you have to.  Practice it SEVERAL times before you actually give your speech.  Too often Best Men and Maid of Honors “wing” their speech.  As Eminem told us, you only get “ONE SHOT”.  Make the most of it.

2.  Have 2 to 3 bullet points to go from in your notes.  This will help you keep it short and sweet and eliminate the opportunity for you to “get lost” and “ramble”.

3.  If you feel yourself starting to deviate from your notes and ramble, end your toast.  In most cases, going longer is NEVER a good thing.

There are several other tips that you will receive as a client of Taylored Weddings that you can pass on to your Best Man and Maid of Honor.  Hopefully these will help you in your public speaking moments in front of all of your friends and family as well.
